Jennifer Waida, LPC – Intern
Supervised By Michelle Silva Segura, LPC-S, LMFT-S, SEP

Hello! My name is Jennifer Waida and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor – Intern.  I just recently completed my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and Professional Counseling from St. Edward’s University. I am currently working towards my Marriage and Family Therapy – Associate Licensure.

I am immensely passionate working to serve and help others. My services are available to individuals, families, children, adolencence, teens, marriages, and couples. My goal in therapy is to empower you through a collaborative approach. I offer  helping you establish healthy perceptions, utilizing tools, and gaining an awareness that will help empower you and your relationships.

Regarding my philosophy on couple and family work -I believe the family is a essential dynamic that is constantly shifting as life happens. I want to help your family find balance, understanding, and empowerment to persevere through your presenting issues.

I have the experience working with a diverse population of children and adolescences in a individual, group, and family setting. I have a warm spot for kids and teens; it can be difficult figuring out what is a typical healthy “growing pain”, when you are personally struggling with issues beyond your understanding. I help empower children and teens through the use of Art Therapy techniques,Play Therapy techniques, Mindfulness, and various Trauma-Focused techniques. I am certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Presenting issues I work with: depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, domestic violence, trauma, sexual trauma, PTSD, loss and grief, anger management, enhancing social skill, incarcerated loved ones, and self-esteem building. I also have experience in behavioral and crisis interventions, along with utilizing numerous therapeutic strategies that have helped my former clients.

I am originally from Dallas, TX. I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology with a minor in Studio Art at Texas Tech University. A couple years later, I made the move to Austin to pursue my Master’s degree in Counseling at St. Edward’s University. In the future I would love to pursue a further education  in Art Therapy. I also plan in time working towards a certification in EMDR and Somatic Experiencing. I am constantly eager to learn and help others through the work I do. I absolutely love it.

I look forward to working with you! My contact information is below:
