About Tara

Are you ready to try something new?
Hello! My name is Tara Sen Pitt, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern. I am originally from Houston, but have enjoyed living in Austin for the past 15 years. I am half Asian and half German; I enjoy working with people from various backgrounds. I received my Masters in Counseling Psychology in 1998 at the University of Denver.
With my clients (children, adolescents, and adults), I work from a place of deep curiosity and compassion. I come from an attachment-based, strengths-focused mindset. This means I want to empower my clients through discussion of relationships and positive personality traits. I enjoy working with people in the realms of stress reduction, healthy relationships, and navigating the many stages of life. More than anything, I believe that therapy brings clarity of mind and spirit.
My past job experiences include working with parenting teens, working with both children and adults with depression and anxiety, and career advising at the University of Texas. I have also worked extensively with children and families who have recently experienced trauma and are living in shelters in the United States.
I receive ongoing training and learning in the areas of Sandtray therapy, acculturation issues, pregnancy and postpartum issues, adoption, and eating disorders. I look forward to collaborating with you!
